Welcome to Jayadev’s new website! Jayadev aka John Richardson original drummer with the Rubettes pop group 1974 to present day, has had a number of musical projects over the past few years; Mantra Choir and Project 108, Virtual Mantra Choir, Fun Drumming and A Space 2 B all of which have proved very popular. 2019 sees Jayadev venturing into the world of dance, yes you heard that right DANCE!…..Well dance music to be precise or as he has aptly named his particular style “SOUL DANCE” music.
With so many music projects on the go Jayadev decided to bring everything under one roof (cue to a song!) and launch his own production company namely Starbox Productions, and of course a new company needs a shiny new website. On March 1st 2019 Jayadev released his debut soul dance single “Ganesh”. Ganesh features Jayadev along with two members of his “Mantra Crew”, namely his 13 year old granddaughter Syama Gauri and vocalist Rasa Lila. Jayadev also released a video by Gopi Kanta Das to accompany the single. Since it’s release Ganesh has been steadily climbing three popular US dance music charts. You can purchase the single on download from itunes or Amazon.
The album from which the Ganesh single was taken is released on April 8th. The album, entitled “The Original Superheroes” by Jayadev’s Mantra Crew, features 16 original soul dance tracks. All but one of those tracks were penned by Jayadev himself and produced by Steve Etherington. It is available for download on itunes and Amazon. The album is also available on USB flash card. The flash card also includes the Ganesh video and two other albums “From Here to Eternity” and “You Are the Music” and can be purchased from this website, please go to our shop page.
These are exciting times for Jayadev and Mantra Crew and also for his pop group “The Rubettes”. The Rubettes also have a single riding high in the US dance charts “Let the Music In”.
